I have had all kinds, Justin, Wolverine, Georgia, and Red Wings but they were all slip ons. I did have some Georgia Mud Dogs but they were extremely hot and they tore after a few months. I really liked my Georgia steel toes (not mud dogs), now I don't need steel toes so I have a pair of Wolverines I really like, and a pair of Danner lace-ups. They are expensive but man I really like my Danners.

What size you wear? I have some Redwings new in box. Size 11 waterproof and steel toe. I will get model in the am if you can fit in them. Sticker is $210. I'm looking to get $100, $110 delivered to Moss Bluff. My work paid for 75% that's why they are so cheap.

I wore the Doc Martin Lace up's good soles but weighed a ton. I have worn Red Wing Pecos, last a long time but I still found them on the heavy side. I bought the pair of Justins last year, they are still in great shape and feel much lighter on my feet than any of the other brands. I tired on the Ariats before I bought these my feet felt cramped in them.

....since almost everyone has a pair, what the best ways to break in a boot? i've found that tougher leathers like red wings take FOREVER to break in (the traditional way). I've heard wear 2-3 thick socks for the first couple days, but that seems uncomfortable. anyone tried wearing em in the shower?
personally, i like lace ups. they strap on tighter, and you're more agile than with slip ons. (of course if you have no need to be agile, you're gonna have slip ons) |
