Danny, I need 2 deals like that. 1 on a 25 and 1 on a bigger motor.

For sure! I know first hand how frustrating it can be trying to fix an outboard when you have limited knowledge.

It was exactly what I thought it was, bad battery cables. Took volt meter and checked battery, 12.5 volts, then load tested battery..12.5 volts, then at solenoid 12,5 volts, then hold volt meter on positive side at solenoid and turn key to start, voltage drops to 0. Battery cables do break down with all the motion of steering an outboard. Built a new set of cables with 6 gauge multistrand, back in business. Easy way to check it if you don't have a good volt meter. Take a set of jumper cables and connect positive to battery, connect other end of jumper cable to hot side of solenoid, then engage solenoid with key switch. If it spins over, the positive cable is broken down. Do the same with the ground side of the jumper cables. You are basically bypassing the battery cables on the motor using jumper cables.

I said that farther up. To use jumper cables to check the battery wires.
Last thing you wanna do is pull a good starter.

You didn't steal anything. I suggested it as an easy way to see if it was anything other than what was checked already.
Them battery cables corrode under the connectors. Corrosion is the worst thing for electrical and electronics.
It usually makes for bad connections. You can't see it, but it gets between connectors and it can screw with your mind trying to find an unseen prollem.

If you find that hooking your starter up directly to the battery doesn't work (bypassing solenoid), then Eric Hardesty can rebuild your starter at Iowa alternator and Starter for pretty cheap. He does very good work. 337-582-3450

Many thanks to Danny! He diagnosed and fixed my problem within 2 hours. Most of that time was me running around moss bluff and finally lake charles to get 6 ga wire and battery terminals. I sure do appreciate Danny and would recommend him to anyone who needs motor work. I will definately call him again and have stored his number in my cell phone!

Thanks, Danny!

reminds me of working at advanced audio and having to deal with those glass cylinder fuses. I hated them things, theyd always go out in the ends where you cant see them.....
