Yep. 20 to 25 ft. They were 12 to 15 miles from the mouth of the jetties, but not straight South.

In my limited experience.......South of Cameron parish.

Water depth = 10 feet + 1 foot deeper for each mile.

So 12 miles = 10 +12 + ~22 feet.

For 40 miles out = 10' + 40' = ~50' deep.

Beyond 40 miles, it drops just a wee bit faster. 50 miles = ~ 65'

The farther east you are......it gets a little bit deeper.

Ray......is this about correct?

Not sure. I fished the 170, 171, 180 and 181 fields for years. They was about 34 miles out and about 50 ft.
I worked 95 miles out at 200' and 105 miles out was 300'.

Yep prob bout right exactly where I was last summer. They were using plastics? Only reason I don't like going out there is cause we had to use live shrimp most of the time. Water is about 22-26 feet at the rig I fish at.

We fished Big Lake on SAT.....3 of us. We started out at the weirs at Grand and the water was very dirty. We left and went to Lamberts and caught our limit on the 4" Gulp shrimp (new penny). Funny thing was, they had a few boats using dead shrimp and they were mostly catching nothing but drum (small ones). By the time we left, the boats were stacked up. Afterwards we look for some trout and ended up with zero. We only fished for about 1 hour. Decided to call it day and headed back in. It was nice just being back on the water.

Went out in the yak yesterday (sat 20th) didn’t do anything; terrible water each stop we drove and paddled to. Finally avoided the skunk when a red got me excited with a subsurface boil up top right about 11am. Worst water conditions I have seen in a while.
