I find I get more "hook-ups" if I wait 1 or 2 seconds after seeing the blowup, to set the hook......or just tighten up the slack to see if the fish is hooked, before setting the hook. Doing this keeps the bait "in the same spot" so the fish can strike the bait again.

If the fish misses the topwater bait......let the bait sit for a couple of seconds and then give it 1 or 2 little "twitches" and that will often get the fish to strike it again.

Fishing birds you want to rip it....only work the bait about 4 to 5 pops that's it...rest is waist...reel up throw again....trout are chasing bait so make your bait look hurt.....

Anyone looking for a partner on an afternoon trip in the Hackberry area, call me. Depending on the day, I may be able to leave work around 3:00. I live in Carlyss. If you live a ways from the lake, we can go in my rig. 337822128. Dang wind is starting to lay some and more conducive to me fishing.
