I have a brass threaded plug on my Triton.. I keep spare plug's in my Rocket Launcher. ALWAYS. Plus a small wrench to Tighten...

for those fold over lever style plugs:
if its left outside in sunlight then I use the same rule of thumb as with tires and expect them to last no more then 5 years, but if its kept out of direct sunlight, I see no reason to ever need to replace it unless the rubber (neoprene or whatever its is) starts to crumble or show spider cracking in the surface |

Alpha the plugs aren't made with the same quality anymore, walmart ones are junk and don't last, i bought a "better" one from stines in broussard, the rubber is holding up better, but it does have a little bit of seepage through the center, i am looking for better quality plug as well

Thats,more what I was looking for with my question. Also the brass gets corroded with green stuff and it's hard to turn to tighten. Especially the kind that has the T. .

yes
try to get the ones with the loop, but make sure the loop goes up away from the bottom line of the boat
