More insurance advice from the collision guy...
Please, for your sanity and, wallet, take the time to understand your auto coverage. Twice in the last two weeks, I have seen accidents not paid due to "excluded driver" clauses. If you aren't sure if there are excluded drivers on your policy, first make sure that potential person doesn't get behind the wheel of your vehicle. Second, contact your agent to find out if you have these types of clauses in your policy. If you don't have an agent because you "saved" 15%, get an agent and, cancel your policy with the computer crowd! These two wrecks I speak of start at $4500 in repairs. The second was an 8 month old Toyota Camry that had over $16k in repairs. The insurance companies are paying not one red cent on either claim! Just think, the $16k repair is clearly a total loss but, the lady only has 52 more months to pay on a totaled vehicle now!...She saved $20/mo by doing exclusions. That's gonna take a while to pay off. In short, know your policy inside and, out! Get a good agent too! It could save you a helluva lot more than 15%!! |

Thanks for the heads up. I just changed all my insurances (1 month ago) from State Farm to USAA I will check on this.

Go over every inch of that policy! I'm not a huge fan of USAA from the collision center aspect. They figure aftermarket parts on everything, even brand new vehicles, unless you pay for additional coverage. Also, make absolutely sure, if you need it, that rental is on your policy. I have a customer now who ordered roadside service and, the works and, still, USAA didn't put rental on there. Now, he will be out of his truck for a couple of weeks, paying rental on his own, even though he asked for "all the bells and whistles!"

Man that's rough! Hopefully you get paid. I may pay more, but my agent is always there when I need him and my coverage has always come through for me.
In your professional opinion, I just recently paid off my truck and no longer NEED full coverage. Should I drop full or it's a good saftey net to keep? |

I have progressive. Filed a claim a few years ago when my GF hit a hog. Nissan dealership worked well with my incurance. Gave me a rental (even tho my plan has no rental) and all is well now.

I'm in
the insurance business although not P&C, and I know you can't really afford to insure everything you have for every kind of calamity that may happen out there. I've dropped my collision as both of my vehicles are paid for, and I don't plan on being in the wrong if I have an accident, lol.... As a Christian, there is a point where I just have to trust that the Lord is in control and will take care of me should something happen.

I just dropped the 15% people because they overlooked me being stationed in Virginia and not Louisiana. Start with usaa September 3rd. I'll definitely be reading my policy over and over again and asking questions.
