i don't know my shark species all that well, but I would agree based on the little knowledge I have, which is flat face=bull shark, two barbell on mouth/funny looking head= nurse HA

First one definitely a bull.
Second one I don't think is a nurse. |

Looking at pictures of nurse sharks I really don't think that is one. Head seems to be shaped wrong. Mouth and eyes don't really match in my opinion. With that being said I really don't know sharks just going by the online information.

Immature Lemon Shark

Thanks for the feedback guys. After reviewing a lot of photos of known lemon sharks, I am in agreement that this was a lemon shark.
One reason this was of particular interest is that even though we caught a small one, a much larger one (7-10 ft) cruised by in very shallow water with identical markings on its dorsal fin and tail. Kinda scary from a wading viewpoint. We saw more sharks from the E end of Elmer's island than from any other shore fishing location in Louisiana. Duckman, if you want to chase sharks, this is probably a good place. |
