Tim, your gonna come back to the store one day and Mike is gonna be pizzed. There will be a bunch of leaking decoys on the floor behind the counter.
I've thought about the GREAT STUFF before, just hadn't tried it yet. I think I'll load em up and drop em off at LeFluer Lock Co. |

Cut the end of the tail or beak off to drain water.
Seal all the holes with black RTV. Don't invite decoy shooters back to your blind. |

I buy cheap decoys. Towards the end of the year go to Academy; they put them 30 to 40% off and they are cheap even at list price. I usually buy 2 dozen a year. To me, if you buy the cheap ones, they are not worth fixing.

You do not have that problem is you do not shoot them (ducks) on the water.........The only time we shoot one on the water is if it lands outside of the decoys.

I usually only dispatch wounded birds on the water, several of my friends with young kids will shoot their first duck on the water. I have had most of these for several years. I will shoot 1 round to jump a group that lands outside the deeks if they start to swim away from the deeks.

I use the foam also, but I don't let anyone shoot ducks on the water......unless it is a kid, then I tell their dad they owe me $30 bucks!!!!!!

It is harder to kill a duck on the water than in the air with steel shot.
If you shoot on the water, the freakin bb's cover the duck, then it jumps up and flies off. If you shoot again in the air, it will fall. Steel shot suxx on the water. Only way I have ever seen steel shot kill on the water is if all 3 hunters shoot at the same time. Waste of shells though. |
