I have always used factory oil on mine, I buy the oil in a gallon container & get the pump for it, makes it easier & less mess. Pull your prop off while your there,inspect seal for fishing line & clean & grease prop splines.

Hey man I live around the corner and I have one of the pumps if you want to use it, they dont cost much but no need to buy one if you dont have to so just let me know.

Quicksilver or mercury. It's very easy to do.

Gear oil is all the same for the most part. Some company's add synthetics in it,but I prefer the old school sticky oil. Really does not matter what brand you use,you can even use automotive gear oil. Just make sure it is a 85-90 wt oil.

You will probably need a "big" screw driver to take the oil drain plugs out. I filed down a piece of metal to fit tight to the grove in the plug. The bottom plug probably has a magnet on the tip. Check it for metal particals. |

i use merc premium gear lube in all my motors and never had any problems. a mechanic told me it was the best years ago and ive been using it since and havent had any trouble.
