![]() Coastal Conservation Association NEWS RELEASE May 26, 2010 www.CCALouisiana.com LAKE CHARLES CCA TO HOST 25TH ANNUAL TROUT SHOOTOUT ON JUNE 5TH The Lake Charles Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana will host the 25th Annual Trout ShootOut on Saturday, June 5th, at Calcasieu Point Landing in Lake Charles. The shootout entry fee is $25 with all participants required to be members in good standing with CCA. Fishing times last from 5:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.. Weigh in starts at 7:00 a.m.. All participants must weigh in or be in line to weigh their fish in by 1 pm.. “Calcasieu Point is such a great venue to hold a catch & release tournament. Its proximity to Big Lake helps keep a lot of these trout alive. Elaine Huck and her staff do such an outstanding job catering to all the anglers,†said Brett Bordelon, Lake Charles CCA Chapter President. “The Aquarium of the America’s will also be on site to help with the tagging & releasing of the live trout. It’s neat to see them working with a tank full of live trout.†The catch-and-release format tournament encourages all anglers to weigh live trout at the official scale and then return the fish to water. All fish weighed alive will receive an 8oz. bonus to their official weight. The one-day tournament boasts at $5,000 cash grand prize for the largest trout caught in the Citgo adult division. The Whitney Bank Youth Division holds a $2,000 educational IRA as its purse for the largest trout. There are 25 places awarded in the adult division and 25 awarded in the youth division. Prizes are drawn by the hour from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.. “Youth anglers may compete in the Adult Division and win the adult prizes if they pay the $25 entry fee, said Bordelon. “However, if they do that, they will forfeit competing in the Youth Division.†This year’s shootout is also sponsored by Whitney Bank, Citgo, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Lake Charles Pilots, Lake Charles Tackle and Aquarium of the Americas. Entry forms are available online at www.ccalouisiana.com or can be picked up in person at Lake Charles Tackle, Cajun Fast Mart, Cormie’s Grocery, Academy Sports + Outdoors, West Marine, Cocahoe’s and Calcasieu Point Landing. that rule has been there forever....no saltwater guides can fish. I actually tried to get that rule thrown out, but it was voted down. I say if you want to claim your the best, you have to beat the best....but oh well.
Lots of the big dogs on the lake can't fish this tourney.....Poe's, Stansel's, Bruce Baugh, etc..... Last edited by cmdrost; 05-26-2010 at 03:11 PM. |
