Default Prien Lake 7-20-10

I make it out on the water ~ 10 AM and went up by the Salt Water barrier. Water up there is a brown color and the salinity has dropped some in the past week.....it is ~ 5 salinity now.

I caught two 16" Reds and a couple of small reds. There were the usual big gar rolling in that area.

I headed south, and the water got a little better down by the Port. Visability was ~ 8" to 10". I tried a couple of spots with soft plastic and live shad but I only caught a couple of croaker.

I fished along the rocks by the Casino and picked up several rat reds before catching a 17" red on the live shad. I caught ~7 more rat reds before catching another keeper. ~ 3 PM the bite improved, and by 4 PM I had caught the 2 larger Reds [22" & 24"] and the 3 Trout [19" to 22.5"] I probably caught ~ 10 keeper size Red's today.

The fish did not hit the soft plastic [spinner mostly] very well but the bite was good with the live shad. I did catch 2 flounder but they were not quit big enough [for me] to keep. There were a few ladyfish, but not too bad to interfere with the fishing.

There was a fair current in the channel most of the afternoon, but the tide only dropped a couple of inches all day. The wind was light most of the day with only a short time where it got up to ~10 mph. Boat traffic was not too bad......and only one jet ski [Mother in back and 2 young girls.....driver looked to be under age] came within casting distance.

LDWF boat did pass by once....but not when the jet ski was there.

I don't remember.....is it legal for a ~ 7 year old to be riding on a jet ski?

Don't think there are any age restrictions for those things as long as user wears a life jacket and is supervised by an adult. But if the mom was on at the time, sounds perfectly legal.

I think all PWC have the same caution stickers on them that 4 wheelers have warning user to be of 16 yrs of age or older.....

yeh as long as driver is 16 y/o its all good. But i would never let my 7 y/o ride one, especially with 2 others on it. lots of jet ski accidents with the youngins cause they dont realize that when u turn, u have to give it the gas to actually turn, its not like a bike.
