Default Saltwater System for Pool

I'm purchasing a 24' dia. x 52" deep above ground pool for the kids. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the new saltwater systems they sell for these pools. Is it worth the extra money ($750) or would you just stay with the old cholrine systems.

Not for above ground. You can buy alot of Baquacil or Pristine Blue for $750.

Thats what I was trying to figure out. The saltwater system is about $750 and the pool you have to buy to support the saltwater is a few hundred more. I plan to keep the pool up all year long and this salt system is supposed to produce enough cholrine on its own.

yea the salt system is the new thing. Its pretty neat. All you have to buy is sacks of salt pellets to put in it which is much cheaper than chemicals. and as long as you keep up with it the salt system would pay for it self pretty quickly. Chemicals are expensive.

my parents have 24ftx 52". once the salt level was right they added nothing to the pool last year. as long as you vacuum and backwash reg, you will not regret.

Could you use it as a livewell for bait while your not swimming in it? Or you could fill it with trout an redfish? That would be cool

I've heard people prefer either. I have heard that the filters for the sand is also very expensive.
