Default blood donors

My wife talked me into going with her today to donate blood. She does it quite often but I never have. Don't like needles....never have, never will. She called me a wuss so I agreed to go. They love her O-Negative blood but they wouldn't take mine. Said it was OU-Positive.

i do it because it literally can save someone's life. Also, I do it because if EVER I'M IN NEED, I get priority.

I donate 1 time a month sometimes 2....I figure however I can help....I'd hope if I was ever laying there in a hospital "in need" I'd be able to get what I needed so y not make it happen for a couple others too.

My wife says that it's actually healthy to donate blood. Apparently, it allows your body to make a new batch. They denied me 'cause they said I'm "slightly" anemic.

i've taken phlebotomy classes and can tell you that THEY ARE MORE SCARED THAN YOU ARE!!!.In that class I was new, so considered a "freshman" and the "seniors" practiced drawing blood from the"freshmans" I've had more times than not, where the person drawing my blood is shaking more than I am. lol Thats why i can damn near draw my own blood now, you go through that S****S and you'll have tough skin FOSHO

I've had bloodwork done and just about pass out or get nauseated. Can't even look at the needle. And that only lasts a minute or so.

I always turn my head when they stick the needle in and I don't look at it either, especially if they're taking a vile of blood. I gave a few times in college for extra credit and once for a friend who got in a bad car accident.

If that was me...I'd just hope it happened in a hospital.

Salty.... do you remember back when you would get paid when you gave blood?

You could get some spending money back when I was in College.

I used to give regularly at the FD, then I had a positive PPD. Can't give anymore.

Got lots of shouts when I was a kid, so I overcame the needle phobia thing

You do the "only platelets" donation?

I usually do the "double red blood cell" donation which takes a little longer and I have to wait almost 4 months before I can give again but they say they're able to get more out of it.
