Default My wifes first speck fishing trip.

Took my wife on her first speck fishing trip. We put in at Calcaseau Point and ran down to Long Island. After a drenched boat ride,(still having to use my dads 1980 Lowes 1648 flat bottom, because mine been in da shop since March of 2010) we started fishing and had a double right of the bat. She caught hers on lice shrimp and mine was on a glow and chart-ruse sand eel. The bite was real slow until we moved to the washout. First cast had one break my line at the boat. To add insult to injury it slowly swam off with my cork still visible. Sat in that one spot catching some decent eating size trout. We ended up keeping 15 trout. I hadn't kept trout in years because of the worms in them. After cleaning the fish didn't find the first worm. Looking forward to frying them up tomorrow hopefully after church. Great job.

The only way to not have some worms in trout is to clean them at night.

My wife likes to fish, but she won't take the fish off the hook either. Makes it esp. hard when wading the surf.

Went Tuesday and got 2 reds and 1 flounder.

Went today with Lucas and Ryan to to the east side of the state to do some fly fishing for reds. Caught my first red on a fly today, missed a couple more and then also had some follow the fly but never eat it. Truly had a blast. These 2 guys are GREAT! They both took time with me to show me a few things that would improve my casting. It was very much a learning experience for me. I'll be ready for them next time.
