I know this is technically *offshore*, but I know it's more interesting to inshore guys. So, anyway, launched from Grand Chenier to save some gas money, and hit some of the WC rigs last week. Decent conditions and strong tide led to a decent bite. It wasn't every cast, but it was steady. Caught most of the trout on gulp bouncing off the bottom.
Thinking we were pretty smart, we decided to do it again, but launched all the way in Prien just for kicks. Cruised from Prien to Calcasieu Point to get live skrimps (just in case), then to the jetties and then 12 miles out. It was slick as glass, and we were able to head out at WOT. Thought we were going to kill them. Went to the same rig that my cuz caught 50 at the day before. Well, as luck would have it, we caught a grand total of 3 trout. Had several Jack's spool my father-in-laws reel, and that was about the best thing about the day.
We burned a lot of gas. At least it was pretty on the water.
