Default Gar fishing.

My son has been begging me for the last year to go catch a big gar. Years ago I used to catch them in Moss Lake. Anyone know of any other places to launch from Calcasieu Point or Prien?

Ellender Bridge would be close to Moss Lake also.

Assume you are talking about fishing them at night, if so, the old river on the other end from Haymark used to be good and also the SE corner of 4 corners

I snagged a 5 foot gar right in the jaw with a jiggin plastic in pecan island, got it in the boat too. Im sure that will never happen again. I have seen people fish for them at night with the biggest mullet you catch in a net. Saw some 6-7 footers caught at cypremort point in the cove before at night.

I have seen some giants on the east side sight fishing for reds. Some in excess of 6 foot. Have thought about casting at them with the fly rod and then I remember I like my fly rods.

Big Mullet for bait. Seen people juglining them in the pits along La. 1 toward G.I.
