Default Prop size question

Hey guys I just recently bought a new bay boat. Got a Nauticstar 2200 tournament edition. Have a 250 yamaha four stoke on the back. It came with a 24" prop but my dad hit a log and broke the prop first trip out. Jerry suggestged going to a 22" prop and thats what im running now. Trimmed out i run about 30 mph @3400 rpm, 35 mph @ 4000 mph, 40 mph@ 4600 rpm top speed 51 mph. Dad said the boat ran faster with the 24" prop but I don't know the numbers. If anyone knows anything about props or has the same motor I appreciate some input.
