My boy had a day off school so I took the opportunity to take a day off and headed to the water. Ended up in Weeks Bay at 11:00 and while getting the old motor started, my boy ended up in the water after pushing the boat away from the dock while still holding on to it. A little chilly but he decided to tough it out. We ended up fishing outside of the 100 other boats and he caught the first trout! Unfortnately he decided that the I-Pod was more interesting so I fished the next couple hours by myself. We caught several decent trout outside, left and fished Mud Point but the wind was too much for my little boat so we went back to the bay. Ended up drifting through the other boats picking up a few fish ending up with 20 trout and one nice blue cat that was longer than a 48 quart ice chest. One boat with three guys in it was reeling in three at a time! They were doing something very right and it was actually fun to watch. All of our fish were caught with Gulp shrimp 3 feet under a cork. Gulp outfished real shrimp...(no I don't sell itt)
I have to note that the risk of fishing out there in a small boat is all of the guys in their deep V-hull boats that don't seem to realize that a boat at half throttle throws the biggest wake. I had a few wakes over the bow thanks to some of the smarter ones. Interesting day on the water creating memories...
