Default Flounder explosion

I have to wonder if Rita is responsible for all of the flounder being caught this year. If you think about it, Rita was in September 2005 and hardly anyone fished the flounder run that fall or even the following spring. Think about how many more flounder made it out to the gulf to spawn that year. The number of larval flounder that were produced that winter had to be sky high. A flounder doesn't reach sexual maturity until it's two years old. So spring of 2008 there should have been a huge influx of breeding flounder. So it would seem about right that you would be reaping the benefits about now in terms of keeper flounder. Sure looks like a bumper crop.

They have always been that thick. Just no one been fishing for them like this year.
2 years ago, me and 1 others caught over 300 Flounder in just a couple of weeks.
We ate on them for 2 years. It was the same before Rita. You just gotta hit at the
right time.
We have not had the cold front passing thru like last couple of years either. Water
is still warm enough to keep them in the channel, but out of the shallow marshes.
2 years ago all it took was 3 bad cold fronts and they were gone from the whole
Big Lake area. They are lingering a long time this year.

Most don't have any issues with anyone fishing down here. But there is an issue with some Texans who tresspass on private property to get to a fishing spot. Some are parking on public property, but crossing into private property to get to where they want to fish.
If it continues, tickets will be written. It will just be a matter of time.

Other issue is when someone is catching fish and a Texas boat pulls in, drops anchor in front of someone's drift. I see this a lot in late Fall thru Spring.
People are on the fish and some folks, not all, from Texas think it is o.k. to do this. It seems like most boats that do this are in Texas registered boats. It is not against the law, but it is not good sportsmanship.
I am very forgiving when it comes to people coming in on me fishing, it normally don't matter to me, if you do it right. But this year, when dumb people cut me off, or come in on me with the main motor, I crank up and screw up their fishing also.
Enough is enough. I figured if someone is good with screwing up my day, it is perfectly fine for me to screw up theirs.
All it takes is a couple of dummys from Texas to give the rest of the upstanding citizens from there a bad reputation.

And there are just as many Texans working in La. as there is the other way around. At least in the industry I work in.

How come Texas guys have to come to Big Lake to catch fish??? You go on 2cool and talk Catch and Release all day....but I have never seen a Texas wader or boat fisherman let a fish go in our waters????

Im have come to the point that there is not enough room for Texas and LA guys in this lake....I have had many bites ruined by Texans (LA GUYS ALSO) so when guys wade.....5 guys wide...I ripping the bank up......If Im on a spot and a Texas boats messes me up.....Im following him all day where he will not catch a fish....... I hope we ruin so many of there trips they just give up.....

I promise you.....There will be NO 7 or 8 guys wading a bank spread out this year when Im on the water....YOu want to spread wide...get in a boat and fish......Dont block a whole area with waders...NOT GOING TO HAPPEN...

Not when someone cuts in front of where you are fishing...
They are later, they cut off what you found.
I fish early. In my opinion, fish hit best right at daylight.

I agree 100% if someone cuts in front of you make their day suck. But burning a bank cause they got there before you wading is just wrong.
