Default Cobia 22V Bay

Looking at purchasing a 2005 Cobia 22V BAY with a 2005 Yamaha 225 HP FOURSTOKE. Has anyone owned one or ridden in one?
What are your thoughts on the boat?
Boat comes with marine radio, GPS, Trim tabs, Power Pole, 36v 101 minn kota, hydraulic jackplate and he wants 24,500 for the boat. Is this a fair price?

"Ray" has either a 19 or 20' cobia. Very comfortable ride. Little wet on a side wind and 2' waves. His 150 yammy 4-stroke is the "tits"

The only Cobia's I know of are 19' and 21'.
Must be an older model or something.
The ones made now have the same hull as Pathfinder, but are thicker and higher sides.
I hit an Oyster reef at 35 mph. Went from 35 to 0 mph in less than 10 ft.
Only had minor scratches on the bottom. No damage at all. Tough hull.
Also had a lady hit me while I was tied up to the dock at Cal. Point. All I had was
a gelcoat chip.
It is a heavy boat for it's size. Good on gas, lotsa room.
At mid speeds, have to use trim tabs or she will porpoise on you.

Didn't Bass Pro pick up the Cobia line a few years back. Not sure but I think they did. I'd buy one before that year as I am sure they were solid boats. Not so sure about the ones after the purchase.

You may be right now that I think of it. I think maverick builds Cobia now.

It seems a little high to me. I have seen a 2004 in really nice shape with a 150 on the back for 18k.

You may want to shop around more. Unless you're dead set on a Cobia, there are way better deals out there. I saw there is a 2007 Skeeter 22' with a Yamaha 250 loaded down, on LA sportsman. Guy is asking 26,900.

It that was a four stroke a thousand hours stroke is not that bad, but that 26.5 price seems high with those hours. From what I hear, crabbers and such are easily getting 5-6000 hours out of the four strokes.

Last year at the Lake Charles Boat Show, there was a left over, brand new, 2010 21 ft'er that was going for $27,000. I wouldn't pay that much for a 2005.

I plan on hitting the NO boat show next weekend and if I cant find something reasonable there I will start looking for a used boat a little harder. I Just dont want to spend another summer fishing out of the prodrive.
