Last year was 49 days I think ... Not sure on dates but usually opens June 1

snapper regs are a joke. its like saying the limit on specs on big lake should be only 2 because they population is down. some rigs we fish you cant get bit by anything else they are so thick.

The problem isn't the quantity of fish it is the age of the fish. Snapper live to be over 50 years old. Right now there's a lot of 15 year old fish they're just waiting for the population to get older and then they will increase the limit.

The reason for the limit is size and age ( mainly age)
That's from the research scientist.

So meaux is correct in his statement.
