Been coaching 4 yr olds today and, oddly enough, it was more fun than fishing!

We spent last Saturday watching the Grandkids. We do this several times a year.

3 Baskeball games and a soccer game in one day. 2 wins, one loss and a tie.

It has happened many times for me with a 16 and 14 year old who both have been playing their whole lives, but this weekend I got some Toledo action and made it back in time this afternoon to catch the soccer game.

Since 1991, with 3 sons, I have spent just about every weekend from February through May on or at a Baseball Field. That all came to and end last week as #3 son "Hung up The Cleats". I'm planning on taking in some Spring Fishing at Big Lake very soon and hope to Kickoff the new phase in my life at the Hackberry DU Banquet. I sure am going to miss my sunflower seeds though.

I played select soccer for a few years. I know I caused my dad to miss a few trips.

I'll be coaching 6 yr old T ball. It'll be a big change from coaching High School baseball. I know as a kid my family spent many a weekend at baseball games/tournaments or football games for me and my lil brother. We always made time for fishing though. I'll definitely make time for it w/ my family too.

seems like there are more "special teams" then there were when I was playing baseball or basketball...

select this select that...hell all we had was rec season and then allstars. No special tourney teams...etc...seems like you "pay" for these too...sounds political to me. Not to hijack a thread but these seasons go year round...whend does a kid get time to hunt fish? I've got some time as my son is only 2 1/2....

If he was anything like me, he wanted to be there because he loved watching and supporting. As fathers, we'll have plenty of time to fish one day, but we'll never get these days back so we need to embrace, enjoy, and remember them. For now, I will gladly let my days keep picking me rather than me picking my days to go fishing.

I can tell you this, when June would come around, I was as excited as a kid at Christmas because fishing season was very, very close. It was alot of years, but we have some wonderful memories and I met some lifelong friends, like my Camp partner, Bolivar Kid.

We just celebrated our last high school soccer season. It was 7 in a row for us. Our youngest is graduating this spring. I won't miss the weather but I will miss watching them play. May make a few games for my oldest son on the NSU club team though.
