Put up an electric fence they'll touch it once after that you can turn it off. I have used this on my lab when I had him and my current dog a boxer. You can put his food behind just the wire and he will not go near it.

Find someone with an e collar and bait that dog into getting on,around,or near the flower bed. When he/she does, light their a$$ up with the collar. You need to make them speak to Jesus(red button). Dog physiology is place sensitive ie; a bad thing happened right there so better stay away. Dogs love cow/horse $hit but when it bites them back they tend to leave it alone. Lemme know if you want to hire the chuck Norris of dog training to fix ur problem.

Put your dog's poop in the holes he has dug and he will not dig there again.

Go tritronics, the sport model is on the low side as far as price. They make dummy collars that you can leave on a dog to make them "think" they are still wearing them

take your regular collar and tape a 9volt battery to it. Same weight.

TT sport is a great collar, wouldn't waste $$ on d-collar just use real 1. If you apply the collar correctly you don't have to be watching him. Put a slice of ham in the flower bed to get him to commit the crime, it will work. $hit in holes will just make him dig in different areas and won't solve OP's problem of digging in beds. Might take multiple "heelings" but he will figure it out.

I tried sprays, pepper and anything else you can think of to put down and all my dogs did was lick it, eat it or drink it so I resorted to buying and electric fence and runnin a strand about 10" off the ground and that put a stop to my dog getting in and in the long run I spent more money on crap that didn't work then I spent buying an electric fence.
