FlagUS Flyer on Lake etiquette

Watching all the post on what is happening on the Lakes, I think there have been a few of you that have posted "guidlines" that if people followed it would be more pleasant on the lakes. Most people really have no clue. They need educating. A few of you could make a flyer with guidlines to help educate the fishing public. My only suggestion is keep it simple and one page.. Also address a couple of safety issues, so its not all about fishing. Then volunteers need to physically hand them out at the boat launches. They can also may be placed on counters, tackle shops, launches and many other fishing events .
Also this will need to be ongoing every year.

You may even want to Header it with website logo.

Yeah if somebody tries to hand me some kind of flier, I usually just throw it away or don't even take it.

It is a good idea though. Just need to think of a better way of executing it

that is a good idea, great one really. I'm just emailed the department of wildlife and fisheries and asked if there was anyway they could add something like this into the rules and regulations phamplet, adding it to their safe boating courses, or something. Just to see what theyd say. Also, doesn't the CCA have a magazine they publish, this might also be a good way to get it out. other than that, if the launches would put a sign on a post somewhere around them, it might help. especially about site specific saftey hazards that might be local to the water the launches are on. we'll see, i would have benefited a lot from something like that, I am still pretty new to inshore fishing, and have got my butt in a bind many times from simple things I know now, but had no one to teach me, and now way to find the info I needed really. This site has been a huge help in that department!

Etiquette and rules are 2 different things. You can't enforce good judgment.
If it is a public lake, anyone can fish where ever they want.

that's very true, but a lot of people don't know (i didn't, W's post has helped me in my drifts), and after readin something like that they might think about it, and be better on the water...of course, if they read it, ignore it, and do it anyway then they are just ***holes, and there always will be people like that, people that will actually fight over a fishing drift like in that other post. if you're local and grew up fishin like this, you were probably taught the etiquette here, if you are a transplant, you have no idea.

I don't mind others coming on a set of birds I am working, if they do it right.
I don't mind others drifting on the side or behind me, if it is far enough.
If the fish are there, and you are quiet, there is no reason multiple boats can't fish the same reef or set of birds, unless it is 3 or 4 birds.
If someone is stupid enough to mess up my fishing, I will drop anchor and start my big motor and let it run till there are no fish there,
then go look for some elsewhere.
No use to cause a big ruckus over a few Trophy Dinks.

It's likely that the majority of inconsiderate people on Big Lake cannot even read. In that case...fliers are useless.
