Made a trip this morning with my wife and two youngest sons. No wind and the water was flat calm. Felt pretty good hauling across the bay as the sun was breaking this morning. We were the first ones on the island and first cast it was on. I have no idea how many fish we caught this morning easily 150. We were throwing tandem sparkle beetles and were catching two at a time almost every cast. I only kept about 60 though because i didnt want to clean that many fish. We were back to the RV for 1030/1100. Ate lunch and my wife wanted to try "her" spot. The kids wanted to take a nap so she and I went for a little while to catch a few Reds. About 15 min in she started pointing and said "Look! A HUGE Red!". She threw to it and BAM off we went. She had hooked into a monster Drum. She fought it on a light trout rod for over 30 min. I don't know how but she caught that thing. I don't think sandpaper could have taken the smile off her face. Say what you want about big ugly drum they sure do put up a fight and are a blast to catch. My older son Bryan and his girlfriend showed up and wanted to go fishing so we took off back to the bay to find more fish. Didn't take me long and we were back on them. I was so busy untangling lines and unhooking fish I didn't keep up with numbers. I finally had to say NO MORE! And by then everyone had had enough. We ran back in and I got to clean fish for an hour. Today was amazing. Days like this are why I love fishing so much. What a blessing it is to live in this place. I hope everyone else had a great day and tomorrow will be as good. I'll be back out again in the morning. My wife wants to catch reds tomorrow so hopefully it'll be a early day so I can get home to BBQ and relax in the pool. Good luck to you all.
