Painting Camp?

I have a trailer at Toledo that I have been thinking of painting, but my big question is, how long will the paint stay on before it starts peeling, or will it peel. I have been told to use a bonding primer paint then use either latex or oil base paint over the bonding primer. Anyone ever done this and any suggestions welcomed.

Most top-quality exterior acrylic paints nowadays are formulated for use on aluminum siding. I never painted a trailer, per se, but, I've painted tons of the siding used before the vinyl stuff came along. Your biggest worry as far as prep should be to make sure there is no peeling. Make sure the paint that is on it is adhering well. Next (and probably most important), make sure that there is no "chalking" present. That means if you rub your hand over the surface and there's a chalk the color of the paint.....it has to be removed. Other than painting over a wet or damp surface...I don't know of anything that will make your new paint peel faster. Use a top-quality product. When they came up with the old saying "You get what you pay for".....they were talking about paint. Feel free to PM any questions.

Thanks, no peeling happening, pressure washed hard so no chalking either, just needs a fresh look. I have a pro sprayer for spraying cabinets, so quality is there and will buy quality paint. First time to spray a trailer, seen it done and they look pretty good after.

If it were mine I'd use a pearl/satin finish. Not shiny but a little sheen and will be much easier to clean than flat paint. Flat paint is porous.

If it was ur camp u would paint like a mullet. Or some kind of bait fish and that would be the way to go. Supa cool

HeHe, yep gonna be a satin finish, don't care for the flat. Looks like I will have to wait till after this week, suppose to rain Wed, Thurs, Frid.
