Default Saturday Trip VB

Headed out of the point on Saturday morning went straight to the pass and tried T-Butte, that E/NE, mostly E wind was a killer, tried my patience....LOL, water was not that great, fished for a while not a bite. Didn't try any more reefs due to wind be relentless, went inside the pass to our REDFISH HOLE, and caught 8 Reds, 6 Flounder, and my Youngest son caught his biggest speck to date (see picture). We all thought he had a redfish, and when that thing came to the surface, it really started cutting up, I thought for sure she was gonna throw the hook, but he got it in the net and high fives were all around. We stopped at Dry Reef on the way in and caught one lonely speck on live shrimp. All in all a good day considering the windy conditions.

Good job on those fish! Conditions were not the most conducive to catchin' in the VB area. Makes it worth while to see your son makin' memories w/ dad.

Ummm, he is now!!!! I tend to forget about the STAR every year, but with things looking up around VB, we all registered now, we usually catch some nice ones when they move inside.

Default Vermillion Bay

Made the trip to Vermillion on Sunday. Made the run to T Butte, chocolate milk and 2 ft seas didn't help. Came all the way back to the Cove. I couldn't quite get on them. There was one guy who pulled in about 15 or so, all nice quality trout. I took home 5, pics here of the larger ones. The water was stained in the cove but very salty.

and to think you made that round trip to T Butte in bumpy waters, burned around 12 gallons of gas and wasted 1 1/2hours of fishin' time!!!!!! You would have probably caught twice that many just stayin' in the cove area instead of making that run! The Pass won't see my boat probably till next spring unless water conditions turn really bad....can't see that happening at this time of year. Trash pile and Dry reef will be turning on here shortly, if not already. Great catch BTW.

BigGrin T Butte

Reefman, your probably right. I did check the MODIS website before I left and the water looked clear. The forecast was far from accurate and I learned another lesson; to the tune to about 25 miles and 1hr wasted running around.
I've been to VB all of 8 times now in my life, I'm still learning. I can smack em down in DuLarge but I'm trying to expand my areas. You willing to show a guy a few tricks of the trade ?
