(July 9, 2012) – Today, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced the 2012 spring inshore shrimp season will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 from the eastern shore of the Calcasieu Ship Channel westward to the Louisiana/Texas state line.

What is the eastern shore of the ship channel ? If it is the edge of the channel then I would think the weirs would be open as the are east of the channel.

Default Rollover

10 lbs per boat allowed during closed season and 25 lbs per boat allowed during open shrimp season.

What you stated is true for Rockefeller only.

In the Sabine National Refuge out of season limit is 1 gallon [~5 lbs].

Possession Limits

Daily fish limits are the same as Louisiana’s Sport Fishing Limits. The daily crab limit is five dozen (60) per day per vehicle or boat.

The daily shrimp limit during the Louisiana inshore shrimp season is five gallons of headson shrimp per day, per vehicle or boat. The daily bait
shrimp limit is one gallon per day per boat.

Did not mean to mislead anyone about the shrimping limit. My post title did say Rollover, however.

I agree this is really not a clear discription to define the boundry.

I don't think you will catch very many shrimp north of the boundry.

Rockefeller is 10 lbs when shrimping season is closed, 25 lbs when open, don't think the side of the road at Rollover is part of Rockefeller though.

But the answer to the original question is YES there ARE shrimp at the weirs on Big Lake
