Default Looking at a nitro Z-7

Only about $400 bucks difference from a pro to the 4 stroke. Have never had a mercury. What does everyone prefer?

No, 4 stroke not junk, but the 2 i would say is "proven". Also, it's hard to beat the gas mileage the opti gets.. again, just my opinion...

Verado is a good motor these days. Much better than the old ones. Gas consumption is close to my old optimax and I don't have to buy 2 stroke oil anymore. 0 complaints! Great motor! Extremely quite. Though, I do believe the optimax is one of the best on the market. Best of luck to ya.

Talk to salesmen at Lake Area marine yesterday. He told me if I bought the nitro to go with the opti max pro not the 4 stroke. Really like the Suzuki. I've had 4 of them and all were great motors. But really like the nitro Z-7. So I guess I'll go with the mercury pro 150.

Not sure if you can get a nitro without a motor?

Once you go black...you'll never get back! I've had 3 Mercury's blow up on me and leave me stranded!

Merc or Yamaha are the best. Yamahas are a Lil more dependable but lack the power of a mercury. Seen just as many yamahas and more Suzukis blow up than merc. All depends on the operator. The ones who said mercs leave em stranded are the ones who think their motors can get them off of a sandbar when their boats aren't floating. Have a good buddy who's in the marine industry and I hear plenty of stories. Guy comes in with a brand new yami blown up n sai it got hot one time and the alarm went off, plug in the computer and it has 29 overheats. Grant u this is a motor has 30 hours on it! Motors fault or operator? a motor will treat you with the same respect as you treat it that's the bottom line

I have a 2008 merc 300 verado on a 24 yellowfin. I have had zero problems with it. I was going to go with a Suzuki or Yamaha. I always had yamahas. The guys at yellowfin talked me into the verado. I was very skeptical, especially cause it was a high tech engine. I am so glad I went with it. Power steering is amazing and the torque this engine produces is massive.
