Default Anybody else heard about this?

The following from the Galveston Daily News:

[U][U]On a sad note, dolphin have been reported washed up on shores along the Gulf of Mexico in several states that have been killed and mutilated by what is believed to be a dolphin serial killer on a rampage.

Captain Paul Watson, founder and president of the leading global marine conservation nonprofit, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, and star of the Animal Planet series “Whale Wars,” is personally offering $20,000 of his own funds for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting and stabbing dolphins along the Gulf Coast.

“I regard the killing of a dolphin as murder, and what we appear to have on the Gulf Coast is a dolphin serial killer. I want this sadistic killer stopped, and I have set aside $20,000 of my own savings to be paid out to any person who delivers the evidence to find and convict this person or persons. Any person coming forward with evidence may remain anonymous and can communicate with NOAA, NMFS, or Gulf Coast law enforcement officials with this information,” Captain Watson said.

This really sucks. I'm no PETA lover, but dolphins do serve as an important member of the saltwater ecosystem. Believe me, I've cussed em whenever they've messed up a good trout bite. I've also had em freak me out while wading as they swim 2 feet from you chasing undersize fish you've let go. Even had one pull my buddy out the boat when he got foul hooked chasing a hooked trout. But man they are sure some amazing creatures.
Hope they catch these SOB's.

Yea, they had 2 in Louisiana last year and another one this year that were shot. I haven't heard anything about who's doing it though.

Shooting a dolphin would be like shooting a horse (uless you're putting it down), it just ain't right!

worse than a horse, on our honeymoon the wife and I did a swim with the dolphins deal. They are amazing animals, and highly intelligent. When they look at you, you can kinda tell how smart they are. would be a terrible thing to shoot one.
