Default Commissary Pt Sharks

Friend caught this black tip yesterday afternoon on Commissary Pt while chasing reds in his flats boat. Might want to keep those hands and feets in the yak next trip.

Seen a bunch of people bringing sharks to the cleaning table last weekend in Freeport...Anyone ever eat shark? I know they piss through their skin but they were talking about how good it is on the grill. Someone clue me in!

I'll piss through my drawers if I drank enough

Seriously though, I've always been curious about eating shark; but if its big enough to be legal, it ain't coming in my boat!

some shark species and fish species dont have urinary tracts and their waste fluids(urine) is expelled through their skin...not actually pissing through their skin but it is passed through their skin.

This is what I was referring to...easier to say piss through skin. What is legal size for a blackfin?

Blacktip and Mako actually have urinary bladder systems and are very good table fare, especially Mako. Easy to clean and cut into steaks. Simply gut it and cut off the fins and then slice down from backbone to stomach making 1.5 - 2 inch steaks. You will have something similar looking to how they clean Salmon. Cut off the belly skin flap and season with your favorite seasonings and grill. Ca C'est Bon!

Be careful of what you call a blackfin as several species have black tips on their fins but don't have urinary systems.

Well that makes me want to get out in West Cove in my kayak...

On the eating note, I heard that you should cut a ring around the tail immediately after catching them to bleed them out. That is supposed to prevent any funky taste from urine in the blood.

On Saturday we had a +8ft circle the boat as we where trying to set the rig hook. The guys on front where wav'n me forward when something hit the motors. Yes, this sob bit one of the props. Turned around to see him flipping out on top the water. The guys in back where freaking out, they saw it happen!
