Default Land based fishing New Orleans vicinity

Just moved to Metairie with my wife who is from here of course...Nawlins women always come back Ive figured that out!!

Anyway my question is where are some good places i can fish within 15-20 minutes of Metairie. Im not a great fisherman whatsover but really enjoy giving the fish a go. Ive been told to try the seawall along the lake is a good spot to bottom fish/tight line but not sure how solid that info was. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My father in law has a boat down at Myrtle Grove marina so im def aware of the great fishing in the marsh here and Im trying to gobble up as much info on that fishing now too, but i would also like to be able to hit the lake up here for some land based fishing too. Thanks

Bottom fishing along the seawall is fine. The lake has definitely lost its edge regarding big trout and Seabrook (pier there) doesn't seem to have recovered.

Freshwater City Park bass fishing is decent in the lagoons.

You can also fish the backside of the MS River Levees when the river levels are up.

Pretty good bluegill and cichlid population. If you do some legwork you can find clear water where the fish are visible on the beds. That same clear water likely necessitates lighter line.

If you drive to slidell you can fish off the end of Lakeview Dr. Its the road on the right directly after you get off the hwy 11 bridge.
