Default BL 7/15 rainout

Got on a pretty good bite on the south end for 1/2 hour this am before this storm ran me off. Caught one decent fish that went 5.5. Every time I catch a trout over 5lbs I think it is going to be 7+lb. Then I'm like, good Lord, I can't imagine what an 8 lb trout feels like!!

That was a serious storm, good decision to leave them biting and try another day. I am no expert but the big trout that I have caught did not fight like a 4 or 5 pounder. Once I realize that I have a really big one on I back off on the drag and let it run it self down way out from the boat, four laps usually wears them out. The wildness comes when she sees the net. CPR the really big ones.

I've never had a big trout fight hard. They seem to know exactly what moves to make to get the hook out of their mouth though. Seems like the ones that I've caught all swam against any pressure I had on the hook. They did a weird head shake you could feel and then you had to keep in touch with them until they get a couple yards from the boat...they definitely don't like the net.

Thanks for the tips Bdub and Gottogo. I'm sure I'll forget everything you said when I get one on the line, but I'll do my best. Lol.
