Could very well be a prairie kingsnake, they are usually more 'splotchy' and not striped but the stripes could just be the lighting.

that's a tough one. There are all kinds of lesser known snakes in Louisiana.
My guess would be green water snake.

But check this out, might help:

The snake above looks nothing like what people call a prairie king snake in the other thread. For what it's worth, I think what people are calling a prairie king snake in the other thread is actually a rat snake

ETA: I was wrong, both are prairie king snakes. The one above is a mature adult, and the one in the other thread is a juvenile.

The snake in that other thread was 100% prairie kingsnake, I posted it as a quiz

Need to know how big the snake in this picture was and it will be easy to peg it, that snake could be anywhere from 3' long to 8" long by that pic

It was about 4ft. Long. The stripes were real. Not a camera effect. It was in the piney woods. Nowhere near any significant water

Nah...thats the only one I took. I've never seen anything like it. the guy I was with has lived within 5 miles of where we saw that snake for almost 60 years, and he had never seen one like that either.
