Default V-bay this weekend

Anybody know what the fishing should be like this weekend? I think I may try to get out there and do a little trout/red fishing if I dont go offshore before then. I am new to fishing this area, so any tips will help. thanks

I would think the water is still above 10' in the river. From talking to the people that fish that area, if the water is above 10 stay in!

It may be hard to catch trout, but if you can make it to marsh island you can catch reds and flounder.Winds are suppost to be calm. A good place to start is by the game warden camp along the rocks. If you dont know where that is its very easy. If you launch at the quintana canal head to the end of the point where the camps end. From there you head exactly due south, and you will see the rocks by the game warden canal. Fish about 18" with a cork with shrimp or gulp along the rocks on either side. If you don't do anything right there just troll along the marsh west of the rocks. Good luck....there are some more spots in the island but it's kinda tricky.

Good info, I only fished Marsh Island one time and that's where I caught a few fish but I wasn't sure if it was luck or actually a decent spot.

Last winter we tore up the reds by those rocks. We were the only ones out there...just because the water is muddy does not mean anything if your redfishing. I know some more spots in the island around oyster lake, and lake tom....it's really not that hard but hard to explain.

We may have to hit it up one weekend. We could maybe plan a trip the Sunday morning after the cook-off?

Sure thing bro...I just got my whaler up and going, need to mount my trolling motor and put some hours on the motor. Not sure if i'll be able to go after the cook off but we can make a trip for sure. I think we will head to big lake though, trying to learn the area.

yeah.. winds make all the difference. I might even go if the salinity stays above 2.0! I'd love to go back there and catch some solid trout and not the big lake babies lol
