Deep and cold water trout 1/1/14

I had a couple hours this morning before getting back to town for the LSU game. Rain was training to the north, so got going to maximize the time I had. Arrived on location at dawn, probably a little too early. Nothing was going on the first half hour, including dredging some of my good confidence water. Scored on a throwback that was frigid to the touch, every bit representative of the 49 degree water temp. But started feeling the bait brushing against the fishes backs.

The action turned the corner at about 7:30 - at some point the surface temp peaked its head above 50 - but perhaps it was just finding a body of fish. Action was steady - all catch and release - with 14-16s and a lost 20 plus. Fish were on the bottom but didn't require a dead crawl, just a gentle hop and glide. Purple/chartreuse deadly dudley terror tails did the damage with about 20, quitting at 9:00. Wish I'd had more time to fish and clean now.
