Default looking for a roofing contractor and carpenter

im in golden meadow and will be needing a roofing contractor to replace the roof and at the same time I need a carpenter to replace the eve boxing.

does anyone have anyone they know worth recommending over the normal just looking in the phone book?

often there are lots of perfectly nice people who mean well and try hard to do a good job but may not be that dependable or do that good of work so I would prefer not to go into this blindly picking from the yellow pages.

so for work in golden meadows:

does anyone have a roofer they would recommend?

does anyone have a carpenter they would recommend?

ok so no one has anyone they can recommend as a good contractor other then just getting a random list of names from the local lumber yards and interview them?

I didn't mean for this to sound snarky, I was saying it more of like "well darn it, ok I guess no one has a personal recommendation they can offer"

sorry if it sounded unappreciative in any way

ok thanks

im just trying to get something more then a contractor customer list from the local supplier. that is a great source but suppliers don't know the quality of work they do they just know the buyer seller relationship and beyond that its just gossip.

I used to be a contractor in the housing industry (a/c & htg) and for every 7 or 8 guys who work around you there are usually only one or two of those you would want to work on your own house or you would recommend for someone you know. people who work in construction know what im saying lol.

Send Fishinpox a PM. I'm sure he just forgot. He is a contractor that builds high quality homes.

But he just got back from a honeymoon in Africa. But he will gladly point you in the right direction.

Start hitting new construction houses that you see being roofed and get some names and numbers.... or if you see older homes getting roofed stop by there. You should be able to monitor a job site over the time of them working and be able to see their work and if it's someone you want to trust.

just make sure you get a clear understanding about all eve metal, any valley work, flashing around chimney or where gable meets drop roof and such... Also know what's going to be done about old roof, old materials and cleanup or possible repairs

well I don't see much if any residential construction or contractor repair work going on in golden meadow area right now.

at this point I think i'll just hafta make do with the business related recommendations I can get.

I guess im gonna hafta walk around walmart taking a survey, maybe i'll run into some good lookin single ladies while im at it lol. beyond that, local social gatherings seam to be my best bet for finding any real customer recommendations. im just not staying down there yet until the renovations get further along so I don't get much chance to socialize with the locals. as of right now im staying in laplace, (90 minutes away)

I wish to thank everyone for trying to help

even though there are places to find a list of contractors, its not always easy to find personal recommendations
