Default New member needs help! Thanks

Hi my name is Cary And I'm new to the forum and new to fishing in general. Long story short - I got bit by the fishing bug about 2 years ago and bought a 22ft Xpress about a year ago. Problem is all my buddies bass fish so I have no one to team up with to go inshore fishing. Looking for some people to show me some spots that don't mind me tagging along in my boat. I live in Gonzales, La and just looking for some good advice on fishing places. Thanks

Welcome to the SaltyCajun.

I don't fish over there but I'm sure someone will be by soon to help you out.

Paul thanks for the reply. I see your from Moss Bluff, my sister lives in Ragley and I've been up there and fished Big Lake and Prien Lake a couple times. My sister and brother-in-law actually have a bait company up there.

Hey, you're the dude whose posts were ignored over on LA SPortsman. You've come to the right place. SC peeps are much friendlier and will help you out. Big Lake is a longer drive from Gonzales than Grand Isle, but I make the trip from BR often because I like it better.

See my posts on catching bull reds in the passes if that interests you at all. It has maps with good spots in Caminada pass and the Cameron Jetties. If you have your heart set on specks, there are lots of peeps on SC who are much better than me.

If you don't have it figured out by late May/early June, send me a PM and I'll at least be able to put you on bull reds, gafftops, and black drum at the jetties. In your boat, figuring out the weirs won't be hard either, but I don't make that run in my 16 ft alumacraft.

Your boat also might be reasonable (with a buddy boat) to hit some of the rigs out of Grand Isle. The SC peeps are planning a trip in June. Very friendly group. I'm sure they will show you how to get it done.

Yep that's me MathGeek. Thanks for the reply that's a lot of good info you gave. My problem is I don't know where anything is and I hate taking my boat out and just trying to guess where to go. I'm definitely interested in some bullreds and whatever else. If you ever go out and don't mind someone tagging along behind you please shoot me a pm. My wife and 10y/o son come with me sometimes and sometimes not. Thanks for the info!

We gotta get that 10 y/o son on some bull redfish. Here's a pic of my son on his 12th birthday. We boated 10 bulls that day, including redfish and drum. We hit Jo Bobs for burgers after a few hours fishing, and it was his best birthday ever.

Have a close look at my bull red pass locations. You can see the boat ramp from most of the fishing spots, so they are not hard to find, and you won't get lost. I'm happy to be a buddy boat if we can work out the schedule, but being a scientific consultant, my schedule is quirky and I'm not able to fish with SC friends as often as I would like.

CaryLab, welcome aboard. What area are you looking to fish? If your interested in doing some fresh water fishing drop me a PM I'll point you to some areas in the Pierre Part/Stephensville area. If your interested in the Leeville/Fourchon area I can also point you in a few directions.

CaryLab, same here, if you head down toward Myrtle Grove (Plaquemines Parish) I can point you in the right direction. We might just run into each other out on the water as well.

Good luck bro

Thanks for the replies fellas. Visco I'm up for heading just about anywhere for some good fishing and put this boat to good use. Hopefully we can meet up on the water one day and you can show me around.
