I never ask for any contributions, but it's amazing the peeps that think a trip is costless, and still want half the cleaned fish that they didn't even catch!
I fish by myself a good bit, soo I figure if I'm hauling myself out there then I can easily haul 1-2 more for the same cost, but when they show up a$$ and face ( no food, drinks ect.....)and act unappreciative, and can be apaulling!

I hate it when they don't pay or help wash the boat!

I look at different. If I couldn't afford to go fishing I wouldn't have a boat. When I get to go I go, whether someone is with me or not it cost the same. I never expect money for tow or boat. If they offer to help clean it I take that offer. It's a good time with good friends. That's worth more than the cost of gas!

Its like an early season crawfish boil

You spend $100 on a sack of crawfish
$40 bucks for all the seasoning sausage corn.....

Guest show up with a $12 king cake and want to call it even while they watch you clean the pot.

I used to have that sign in my offshore boat at the helm where everyone could see it.

That's pretty much how I feel about it. If I invite you, then I'm not expecting you to pay. Same thing as with inviting someone over to eat at my house. If they feel the need to pick up some of the cost, then it's much appreciated but not expected. Now if you ask to go, then that's a different story. I'll tell you up front what the expenses are and what I expect you to cover. If you don't like it, then you don't come fishing. I've always been lucky with my fishing partner though. Even if he doesn't pay for the fuel in the boat, he'll haul the boat with his truck, or cover the ice, bait, and drinks. If we win money, it's an even split after expenses are covered. Regardless on who caught the fish. It's a great relationship!

I'm 100% self sufficient on the cost of a trip, but it always amazes me the people who have it won't offer it and expect it, and the ones that don't want to offer u the word!
They get invited back at my expense and get all the fish they want!

I'm going regardless . What chafes me is when you coming with me in my truck and my boat with my gas and ice and launch fee and you LATE. .. You get 15 min. the first time , second time 0 min. I leave without you.....I actually had a guy tell me he retired and don't set a clock for nobody.....He didn't get the second chance.....

This is the reason I sold my offshore boat. Between the gas for the truck and boat, ice, bait , and oil it ran about $800 before I would leave the dock. I would always fill up when I got back to the dock so they only had to pay for the gas that we would burn. It was amazing that people would ***** about $200 for a 48 hour tuna trip and I was the one paying $600 a month for the boat. Hell most of the time all I wanted was a few filets and the would take a hundred pounds of filets home each.

I am lucky, my fishing friends have boats and we all abide by the same rules. Fill up boat and truck before you go and split gas at end of trip.

When someone new comes they might get one free trip but after that it's same for all and it is told up front how it works.

It is only fair way, and I believe if anyone was having a hard time financially we would make exception but luckily that isn't the case.

I'm the same way except I do expect them to pay for the launch, their own food and drinks and maybe a bag of ice. I know it isn't much, but it makes me feel better. I'm fortunate enough to be better off than a lot of my friends financially so it doesn't bother me.

Clarifying expectations up front is probably the best policy.

Man y'all fishing with the wrong peeps , I can say that all my friends I've fished with over the years always offer ( I don't always take ) something

Most now just bring me 2 1/2 gallons of oil

Back in my early years he'll it took 3 of us to go fishing
One to drive , one who had boat , one who could buy beer lol
