![]() Caught by Ken Chaumont on April 12. It must be getting pretty fresh. HaHa! The Press tries but their Outdoor section is pretty weak. The Port Arthur News and the Houston Chronicle fishing sections are pretty good. |

Yeah Ive noticed that since Louis Bonnette took over the column, it is mostly about hummingbirds or ducks in the park etc. etc. I'm sure he is a really nice fellow and all but I don't think he's a real avid hunter/fisherman. BUT he did have a good article about Lacassine in today's paper

Before Hurricanes Rita and Ike. I used to set juglines in JohnsonBayou and Madam Johnson. It was not uncommon to find your jugs in Sabine Lake with 20-30lb bluecats. Even caught bluecats as for south as what we call the dredge hole which now is gated. Also in Oct. we would catch bass under the birds in the mouth of willow madam and johnson bayou mixed in with the trout. Since the hurricanes, I haven't caught any bass but a few small blue cats are starting to come back.

I used to catch them in Rockefeller at the East End Locks at Joseph's harbor. They were usually big, heavy fish. I'd catch them on cut mullet hanging from a cork during the winter.
