Default Colorado first timer

I ran a trip for R&J Hunting & Fishing service. I had 3 guys from Colorado. A father and son and a buddy who had never caught anything like the fish that were waiting for him. It was looking like another beautiful day on the water was ahead of us.

Conditions on the water were good. The virgin asks me if there was a special way to set the hook or should he let it bite a bit before setting the hook. I told him to "Just hang on". We bounced around for about a half hour without anything happening.

Suddenly a drag starts singing and the Virgin is no longer. The dad, his buddy, stopped popping his cork and turned to watch his friend when a screamer hits his line. I do not know what actually happened but his son reached over just in time to keep the father from going overboard. I just caught the last bit of it but he was well on his way into the water. We now have a double. We are off to another adventuresome day on the water.

After that we had a lot to talk about the rest of the day. The no longer virgin hooks up to our third fish of the day and while he is fighting this one he said he "can get used to this stuff".

Through out the day the son although he fished hard watched the other 2 catch fish after fish.

There was talk of not being able to fly fish for trout in the mountains and getting excited ever again. The newbe was hooked on this for sure. Although no monsters we managed a few in the upper 20's.

Around 11:30 I hooked one and handed the rod to the son that still had not fought one yet. The fight was on and he had a blast battling the beast.

I do not know what happened from that point on but he woke up after that and the fish found his bait on a regular basis from that point on.

Thee winds and seas picked up again in the afternoon as predicted but we continued with the fishing fun. There was talk of the friends back in Colorado never experiencing this and some pictures were sent to them right from the boat. As we were poled down I hear a loud bang and it did not take long before I found the cause of the bang.

The power pole bracket had broken and I lost the pole as well. I contacted Power pole and the replacement parts are already on the way. I should have them tomorrow. I can't speak high enough about the quick and excellent service I got from Power pole. They made a customer for life.

We made a few more drifts and were drifting at almost 2 mph so it made things a lot harder to fish because the baits could not be worked right. This did not stop the fish from biting though just not as many hookups.

I had another good day on the water and happy customers. The broken pole was just another bump in the road.

Life is Good!
Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.

It does happen. Mine was not the only one that it has happened to. Hard use. Could have been more careful. Will be from now on.
