Steering Question

I am having an custom aluminum bay boat made. 20 ft.I need to put steering on it. What is the standard hyd. steering to use? Name brans, and where is the best place to buy it?

Rusty I don't know why clampy would say that but uflex uses a better grade of seals than seastar. Uflex system also allows you to tighten your hydraulic lines where you want them. Seastar does not.

I said it because I've had 4 boats with it and never had problems with any of them. Therefore no need to look elsewhere.

I have had uflex in the past and i found it to be a step down from sea star. However their customer service is excellent.

I don't what model you had but I can't find anything about their product to be a step down. If you used their smaller model with a bigger outboard I'd expect it to have problems. Better quality parts than seastar. Made in the USA. Easier to bleed all the air out of the lines. Seals hold up longer. What is your definition of a step down? I did not have the smaller model. Mine had a faulty helm which they replaced no questions asked but the steering did not feel as smooth and effortless to me as sea star and ive had quite a few sea stars with no issues.

Thanks. Went to Yamaha dealer and he told me the same as clampy. Trails Yamaha.

Having issues with a Uflex right now boat is less than a year old with 14 hrs. Bay Star/ Sea Star is the way to go , only problems I ever had where replacing seal kits after years of use.
