Default Transducer install question

Ok the instructions says aline the transducer with the bottom line of the boat. My transducer is installed above my step and at the end of my transom so to say. But the transom sticks out a about 2 inches and the bottom V starts right there and goes down to center. Attachment 83560

So will that angle affect the reading bc of how the water flows in that area. If you understand what I mean.

Alpha, I just installed a Lowrance unit on my new boat. Those instructions say to mount it at least 1/8" below the bottom of the boat. When I went and ran the boat the transducer was causing water to spray all over while underway. I mounted it even with the boat. I think it needs to pointed a little upward since the boat is angled while running. Hopefully this will resolve that. Also the graph was a little fuzzy(interference) due to the turbulence caused by the spraying. So I will angle it up a little before my next outing. I would recommend doing that before you test run it.

I had to reinstall bc my original one broke. Do to something hitting it I guess. I noticed that when I'm running I could get a reading but that was bc I didn't have my settings right.

Ok that sounds like the Lowrance instructions. It looks to me like you have it installed correctly.

I just put mine barely below the bottom of the boat since I was concerned about it hitting something. It seemed to work pretty good except for the spraying im getting so I think it needs to be angled up a little.

That v you see in the pic is about 3 in behind the transducer. That's not flush with the back

Ok I doubt that angle will have any effect on anything.

You can always go the in hull route. Your temp readings will be off but you won't have to worry about knocking it off. I'm not sure if the skimmer transducer works in the hull, or if it's a totally different transducer needed though. I'm actually paying someone next week to install my structure scan module and transducer.

Lawrence, I think the pocket on my 190 is different from yours because I couldn't mount my xducer there. I ended up putting it on my trim tab which works well even tho I have to bump the tab down a bit once I get running to make sure it has good contact with the water. Will try to attach pic if you want to see it.

I never had a problem with spray. I just felt I wasn't reading well once I was on step but I thing that was because my scroll speed and ping settings weren't maxed out.
