Another early day of limits today with the Carrol gang. Julian wanted to have some father/daughter time with Annelise and she had never caught trout before. We got to the spot before daylight as the lunar app indicated a 1 fish day with a major period very early today and then again not until afternoon. Usually a 1 fish day means no bueno but these charts are just a guide and they are accurate about 75% of the time. As soon as the first line touched the water we had a log come in the boat. There was a lot of activity on the water very early with sharks, ladyfish, and trout creating boils on the surface. It certainly wasn't fast action but the fish were coming in steady. Annelise learned very quickly and was soon hooking her own fish. She caught her first trout today followed by many more. Then all of a sudden all hell broke loose and it was fire and smoke. We had to move a short distance but found a very large school of fish. I would guess it had to be 100 yards in diameter as we were catching 360 degrees around the boat. Trout were flying over the rails at lighting speed and my crew did a great job of closing the deal. When the smoke cleared it was just after 8:00 and I pointed the Blue Wave north. These fish were holding in 8-10 ft of water and wanted our single rigged Reflexion Ghost Bammers popped twice. They would annihilate it on the fall.
