Gasper Master and I always have trouble keeping concentrated on trout when I go to big lake. Well I think he can but I am always ready to catch anything when trout aren't cooperating. So much to offer in one area. Made it to launch in Cameron around daylight and tried to make bait at the jetties but water wasn't moving and couldn't find anything but small pogeys.
Water looked good from jetties all the way up to near first cut into west cove. Boats were stacked up in ship channel and we tried a few spots we have had luck before but with no tide we decided to go to plan B until tide started dropping.
Ended up with a good mess of flounder at plan B and tagged and released one undersized red.
Plan C was to head back to the jetties and wait on tide and hope for some bait. We didn't make bait but did find some reds and a couple trout. One about 22"
Messed around rest of afternoon fishing, scouting and waiting on tide but we guessed the south wind had the tide delayed and it was a long haul back home.
Had a great trip with my podnas and they had a good time and some good filets to bring home.
