Default 7-11-15 - Trout and Reds

Fished on a buddy's boat on Saturday with a great group of friends from college that I don't get to hang out with enough these days.

Cleared the Pass at 6:00 and bounced around looking for good water. All but one trout were caught at the same spot. Trout caught on artificial and reds ate dead shrimp under a cork. Fished hard from sun up until 4:00 but most fish were caught before 12:30.

Great day on the water!

Thanks, guys.

Also, yesterday was the first time I have ever seen a couple of guys surf fishing at T-Butte. They were in about chest deep water on the North Side of the reef and casting towards the reef. I didn't see them catch anything but we were only there for about 20 minutes.

Saw it once last year. I hated then but I plan on getting my feet wet there this year.

Speaking of wade fishing, I've caught several big Black Tips at T-Butte. I've also waded knee deep at times to cast net for bait there (sight casting, and did well), but if the pogies are schooling in close... that's when I've caught sharks... big time.

At 12:00 noon, 7/13, Satellite Modis showed green water at T Butte. Headed to FWC launch, but the wind had shifted from NW to SW. T-Butte was muddy, high and rough...I should have known better but...it had been awhile and I'm glad I made the trip anyway. Didn't run to the rigs, contrary to forecast, the seas were choppy.
