It is. I had been keeping an eye on it the last couple of days and it was at 11.2 a couple of days ago. I went and tried yesterday in my yak around the mouth of Shark Bayou as well as the little canals going into the marsh and the water was pretty muddy; a result of the steady southwest winds. I thought that with the rising salinity levels the specks may be there, but they weren't. Once the water clears up around the point, they should take advantage of it.

I bet if there is a lot of bait around Dry Reef that the specks are piled up in there.

Hey now! Caught just a few last weekend around the well heads all small....Give it another few days. When that wind clocks back to Se that salinity goes back down to less than .50!

This is the magic, 3 days of winds around the 180-220 mark. The river can be high at butte larose and that wind will shove clean salty water in. Hope someone is bustin them outside the pass. |

The river at BLRose is still right at 17 feet, which normally keeps the bay fresh. But on the 13th, it paused its rise at 16.5 feet, and has risen only 6 inches since then. With the pause, the tides have had a chance to bring in salty water, despite the high river. Good for us, regardless of the level.

Google "cypremort pointe water data" and it will come up as the first result. The conditions we had this week are a perfect example of how the right ride and wind can turn the bay from fresh to salty - during these months you have to be ready to hook the boat up and roll when you see the signs, unfortunately i wasn't free enough to take advantage of it this year... |

Spoke to a W&F agent at the landing today. He told me salinity in Southwest Pass was 28, at Dry Reef 16 and in the Cove 6.5. Hit Tiger Shoal caught 60 white trout (which we returned to the water) and 2 specks. The specks must be moving in.
