Sabine River 7/23

Made a Trip to Sabine river Last saturday. We managed to catch around 40 bass. Most were in 11-13" range. We did have a 5 fish stringer of about 11.5lbs. Most of our better fish were found on laydowns that were in deeper water. We were using Tx rigged V & M JBugs with 1/2oz Tungsten weights. All fish were released to be caught on another day!!!!!

I just saw that!!! I fished that mornin for a lil bit but the traffic was horrible! Those guys musta ran way north for those monster's!

T-Boo Go to Cajun Tackle and grab a pack of JBugs... they arent very big.... thats what kept me from trying them forever until I finally got some in my hands... They are smaller than a baby brush hog...

BassYakR you use a straight shank hook for texas rigging? I was listening or watching somebody the other day talk about using straight shank on their texas rig vs an offset hook.

Straight shank flipping hook w/ snell not is the way to go. For FLIPPING. I don't trust my snell tying abilities yet. Good job Nate. Do those J-Bugs smell like soured milk to you too??

Yeah buddy... I prefer it bc when you use one with a snell knot and u pull on the line and the eye of the hook hits the pegged weight it drives the point of the hook up into the fishes mouth... I seem to have better hookups this way. Now when im using smaller baits like a speed craw i dont use them bc they dont stay on the keepers very well.

I've been using the Owner Twistlok hooks and my hook-up ratio is much better. Plus they keep the bait from getting tore up as often. Many more fish per bait.

Is that in he Calcasieu? I am not familiar with that name. Does it go by another. I am originally from that way. Doesn't ring a bell.
