Default Deer steak and mirlitons

My father in law gave us some deer steaks the other day. I'm not a deer hunter and I've only ever eaten the regular ol' fried backstrap, deer in a gravy, and deer sausage so I wasn't sure what to do with them. I took a larger steak and halved it for me and the wife. Let it sit overnight with some rosemary and thyme then hit it with some salt and black pepper before searing it. It cooked a little different than regular beef, but overall it was pretty damn good. I had some mirlitons sitting around so I peeled them and sauteed them with some butter and garlic as a side.

Apparently the wife loves deer even though she refused to eat duck. I guess I have leverage to try and talk her into a deer lease too!
