Great Redfish/Trout Action Down Dularge!
Blowing like a hurricane down here on the DU but fortunately the fishing remains good once you find pretty water. The trout finally showed up and the reds have been holding their own lately. Thursday I made a solo scouting trip and found my 25 trout and they were eating up on croaker colored swim baits and the all new lure from Stanley Jigs. Friday morning the winds were howling and just got stronger as the day went on! 25-30 mph and gusts higher than that made for a tough day of fishing. Sandy Derise, John Garber and Scott Saunnier were not scared to give it a go as we targeted redfish in the ponds. The water was cloudy in most areas but these guys are good and had no problem filling the box with reds. We caught 30 plus reds and 18 of them were large enough to keep. Perfect size as most were 16-24in. The reds were caught on LSU chubs and chartreuse/white spinner baits. This crew fished hard and was rewarded with a good box of fish. Sure was a fun trip with Sandy and the guys with lots of laughs the entire morning. We called it a day around 11:45. My son Dead-eye Chris and I ventured back out into the gale force winds around 1:30PM and the water was rising fast with the incomming tide. We fished until 4:30 catching our 50 trout limit on croaker, limetreuse, and purple haze swim baits and of course the new lure we have been testing now for 2 weeks. The trout were mostly 12-15 in with a few going 18-20 in. Sure was a fun day yesterday with plenty of action as the redfish & trout bite could not have been better. Good luck fishing.
